- Pencil drawing of carousel horse on 140 lb. Arches paper.
- Darks painted first, then mid-tones and lights on its mane, wet-into-wet using purple, thalo green, quinacridone burnt orange.
- Green harness and leaves painted with thalo green, quinacridone gold, ultramarine blue, and thalo blue.
- Add same darks for eye, nose and saddle, then do reds for the bridle with pink, lilac and gold for rosettes. Add light pink for the mouth.
- Background painted with quinacridones, burnt orange and gold very wet. Carousel pole is also gold.
- Finishing touches are light hued shadows on the white horse with modeling of features using dilute warm purple and blue shadows.
